Job title: Game Designer

Summary
Arriving at Light Brick I had a very gamified view of what design had to be and how to approach it. This got severely challenged as I got handed the responsibility for the “expansion” of Builders Journey.
Expanding on a such a tight and well woven experience was a hard task and we had a lot of discussions on what to do. Ultimately we ended up putting our bets on a creative mode as this was one of the most requested features for the game rather than trying to expand the story or do twists on existing designs.
There were a lot of experimentation involved as we tried our hardest to avoid a UI menu, ultimately it still ended up being the path of least resistance but it was very enlightening to try to approach design from a framework of fitting into a minimalistic, heartfelt, narrative-driven game.
My time at Light Brick was too short and I sometime wish I was still there, but other things was tugging at me so we had to part ways.
